Associate
Muhammad Shakir Shaharuddin is a Associate in the Corporate Commercial Practice Group of Messrs Zharif Nizamuddin. He completed his pupillage in the Dispute Resolution and Financial Crimes & Asset Recovery Practice Group of the firm under the tutelage of Nizamuddin Hamid.
He started his career working as a paralegal in the Dispute Resolution, Construction, Engineering & Arbitration Practice at a major local firm whilst studying for the CLP. His working experience also include internships at various local law firms, an international law firm with a presence in Malaysia as well as a major local financial institution.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, he was selected to represent his constituency in a digital youth parliament session which had over 6000 applicants nationwide. He had also co-founded a short-term legal clinic in collaboration with a women’s rights NGO. Aside from that, he is an active volunteer and served as a management committee member of a local non-profit organisation which aims to reduce education inequality whilst empowering underprivileged youths in Malaysia.
Outside of work, Muhammad Shakir plays volleyball and enjoys outdoor adventures.
He obtained his undergraduate law degree at Taylor’s University before completing the Certificate in Legal Practice (CLP).
