Haq

Haq Khider is a corporate and commercial lawyer with a distinctive background spanning private practice, in-house legal leadership, commercial advisory, regulatory compliance, and entrepreneurship. He is a member of the Corporate Commercial and Banking, Finance & Real Estate Practice Groups of Zharif Nizamuddin, and concurrently leads the firm's affiliate, ZN River Sdn Bhd, the group's commercial advisory arm.

Haq commenced his legal career in 2017 when he joined Messrs Zharif Nizamuddin as a pupil in chambers under the tutelage of Khairunnisa Khalid within the firm's Corporate and Commercial Department. During his formative years in practice, he was entrusted with a broad spectrum of sophisticated corporate and commercial transactions, including mergers and acquisitions, legal due diligence exercises, corporate acquisitions, share subscription transactions, and the structuring of business expansion models through licensing and franchising arrangements. This early exposure laid a robust foundation for his commercial legal practice and developed his ability to navigate complex corporate transactions with precision and commercial sensitivity.

In 2018, Haq was seconded as in-house legal counsel to the Enervive Group of Companies, where he provided strategic legal support across the organisation's commercial operations. His portfolio encompassed the commercialisation of football turf initiatives, sponsorship arrangements with state football associations, employment and human capital matters, contractual negotiations, and general corporate advisory. Working alongside senior management afforded him invaluable insight into the practical realities of business operations, enabling him to bridge legal principles with commercial objectives.

Recognising his commercial aptitude and leadership capabilities, Haq was subsequently seconded in 2021 to a leading Malaysian master franchisor, where he assumed the role of Head of Legal and Compliance. As a member of the company's leadership team, he was entrusted with overseeing the organisation's legal and regulatory functions, enterprise risk management, corporate governance, franchise registration, international master franchise negotiations, and commercial financing exercises.

Following the completion of his secondment, Haq returned to the firm's corporate group in 2022 to lead ZN River Sdn Bhd, which specialises in strategic business advisory, franchise consultancy, corporate secretarial services, and financial analytics. Under his leadership, he has advised numerous Malaysian and international enterprises on corporate restructuring, franchise development, governance, business transformation, and market expansion strategies. Among his notable engagements was advising a Malaysian enterprise on its strategic expansion into Turkey and Singapore, where he provided legal and commercial guidance on cross-border market entry, commercial structuring, and international business strategy.

In 2026, Haq returned to legal practice with the firm, completed his pupillage requirements, and was admitted as an Advocate and Solicitor of the High Court of Malaya. His professional journey spanning private practice, executive leadership, commercial advisory, and entrepreneurship has shaped a distinctive practice centred on delivering pragmatic legal advice that is firmly grounded in commercial realities.

Beyond his legal qualifications, Haq has attained several distinguished professional accreditations that reinforce his standing as a multidisciplinary advisor. He is a Certified Franchise Consultant accredited by the relevant Malaysian ministry, a Certified Franchise Executive (CFE), an internationally recognised designation within the global franchising community, a Certified Train-the-Trainer, and a Certified Halal Consultant. Collectively, these credentials enable him to advise clients on legal, regulatory, operational, and strategic matters with a holistic and commercially informed perspective.

Outside legal practice, Haq is also an accomplished entrepreneur and the founder of Khorsani, a premium stone craftsmanship enterprise specialising in Islamic memorial products. He worked full time on setting-up the business between the year 2014-2016, before returning to studies. Under his stewardship, the business has expanded to four locations across Malaysia, providing him with first-hand experience in business development, operational management, brand building, and organisational growth. His entrepreneurial background affords him a unique appreciation of the commercial challenges encountered by business owners, allowing him to provide advice that is not only legally robust but also commercially practical and strategically aligned.

Haq is a keen sportsperson, he enjoys playing badminton and weight-training, and occasionally attends martial arts classes. Besides being fluent in Malay and English, he is conversant in Mandarin and other local dialects.
